Letting Go of Worthless Things
Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.
Psalm 119:37 NKJV
In my previous post I talked about revival and what the word revive really means. Revival is a great thing to desire and ask God and the Holy Spirit for, but from reading the scriptures I noticed something that can hinder our own personal revival. In fact it is our constant consumption of worthless things that keeps God from reviving us in His way.
The truth is it is so easy to become distracted and even addicted to worthless things. Some of the things we consume are sinful, and others are simply just not beneficial. So if you have been seeking a spiritual refreshing but haven’t seen much change, then I suggest that you evaluate what are the worthless things in your life that might be a hinderance to you and your relationship with the Lord.
Right now it is Spring Cleaning season, however it it also the season of renewal and nature around us is coming back to life. There is a correlation between pruning the dead things in our lives and embracing the new. Now is the time to decide what is worth keeping and what should be thrown away. I pray that you decide to let go of some worthless things today because sweet revival is on the way!
To everything there is a season. A time to keep and a time to throw away.
– Ecclesiastes 3: 1, 6 NKJV
