Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! – Psalm 46:10 NKJV
Be still and know that I am God. I really love that verse, but practicing it can be harder than one would think. I can picture a restless child that doesn’t want to be still. And no matter our age or season in life sometimes we find ourselves being fidgety too.
God gives us dreams and visions in our hearts and we get so excited that we just want to get to work and make things happen. Even if somewhere along the way we find ourselves making things happen on our own that God never approved of. We don’t consider all the work that God has to do in us first.
I’m reminded of the movie “The Karate Kid” 2010 remake. Mr. Han said a line that I’ll never forget. He said “being still and doing nothing are two very different things”. Let this be a reminder for you to value being still when God tells you to be still. Don’t do things in haste because of comparison, your personal timeline, or other peoples opinions.
Value being developed in private. God can very well be developing you at a rapid pace behind the scenes, but don’t step out without Him. Let God direct your path like He is the navigator of your life. Let Him determine the rest spots and best times to accelerate. This way God gets the optimal glory from our lives.
